Our occupational disease department is responsible for developing claims involving occupational injuries and resulting disabilities so as to qualify workers for compensation awards and medical coverage under New York Statute.

Under the supervision of senior partner Kevin P. Walsh the department is staffed with attorneys, paralegals and secretaries. They are all involved in the research and securing of the factual and medical evidence that is part of presenting occupational disease claims before an Administrative Law Judge for consideration.

Under New York Compensation Statute workers are entitled to both monetary awards and medical coverage for that condition if it can be established that they suffer from a disabling medical condition causally related to exposure to irritants in the work place that arises due to the nature of the employment. For over 25 years the department has successfully represented 10's of thousands of workers exposed to a variety of irritants over extended periods of time, who have developed a wide range of disabling medical conditions.

We have represented construction and tunnel workers exposed to rock dust, sand, cement, concrete and other dusts, utility and construction workers exposed to asbestos and constant loud work place noise, and teamsters as well as computer operators and garment workers who perform repetitive work with their hands. We've assisted doctors, nurses and nurses aides exposed to latex and workers throughout New York exposed to dangerous chemicals and fumes as part of their employment. As a result of these exposures we've established as work related claims involving asbestosis, silicosis, chronic lung disease, hearing loss, carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive stress injuries, and latex allergy as well as occupational injuries to the back, knees, and shoulders due to constant work stress.

In establishing a wide variety of cancers as occupational in nature, we've not only been able to assist workers with these conditions but also have obtained monetary compensation for surviving family members when the occupational cancer has resulted in death.

All members of the department are specially trained in interviewing clients, answering questions, following up to solve problems, and doing everything possible to assist our clients through the workers' compensation process.
